Both Kizz Daniel and Mayorkun are elite hit-makers!
And, although there’s a two-year gap between their debuts, they’ve both been some of the most talked about artists in the industry in recent times.
Kizz Daniel who has three albums out has been on the scene for about five years now, and (as evidenced by his albums) has been very consistent with dropping music.
For his first two years at G-Worldwide, he didn’t do any features as part of the label policies but as soon as he got out in 2018, he became one of the most-sought after.
From Harrysong, to DJ Spinall, DJ Neptune, Young John, everyone wanted Kizz Daniel on their songs that year.
Collaborations aside, his albums are very solid. “New Era” remains one of the best debuts of all time, and has been compared to such classics as “Superstar” and “Mushin 2 Mohits.”
He followed up with “No Bad Songz” in 2018 and the critical reception was awesome. Last year, he released his third studio album, “King of Love” and it’s only a matter of time before he comes along and puts out a fourth. He doesn’t rest.
Mayorkun on the other hand, hasn’t been around for so long. Although he got signed in 2016 to Davido’s outfit, he didn’t drop his debut album, “The Mayor of Lagos” until mid 2018. The album which was literally a compilation of hit singles, was trending throughout the year.
Although Mayorkun is yet to deliver a sophomore, his singles and amazing collaborations have kept the industry buzzing. For his work rate last year, he even got a nomination for “Artist of the Year” although he lost to WizKid.
2020 seems to be his peak so far, and if he drops another album right now, you already, that’s just more hits for the “Eleko” singer.
With the number of hits between them, there is no doubt that Mayorkun can be a worthy challenger for Kizz Daniel, to a reasonable extent. Now let’s list some of their hit songs and compare.
